One needs a Seer’s Vision and an angel’s voice to be of any avail. I do not know of any Indian man or woman today who has those gifts in their most complete measure.

By common endeavour we can raise the country to a new greatness, while a lack of unity will expose us to fresh calamities.

I think whether you're having setbacks or not, the role of a leader is to always display a winning attitude.

When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it. 

Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? Is it a legacy of our colonial years? We want foreign television sets. We want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported?

A plane is always safe on the ground but it’s not made for that. Always take some meaningful risks in life to achieve great heights.

My message, especially to young people is to have courage to think differently, courage to invent, to travel the unexplored path, courage to discover the impossible and to conquer the problems and succeed. These are great qualities that they must work towards. This is my message to the young people.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

In a democracy the poor will have more power than the rich, because there are more of them, and the will of the majority is supreme.

If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right.
